Federal Aviation Administration Requirements
| Be at least 16 years old. | |
| Be able to read, write, and understand the English language |
In addition, you must obtain a third class medical certificate from a Designated Medical Examiner. (this is also your Student Pilot Certificate when endorsed by your Instructor) in order to solo an aircraft
To be eligible for a Private Pilot Certificate, you must:
| Be at least 17 years old | |
| Be able to read, write, and understand English | |
| Pass a knowledge test on aeronautical knowledge | |
| Receive flight training from an Certified Flight Instructor | |
| Have flight experience that includes: At least 40 hours of flight time that includes a minimum of 20 hours of dual instruction (with a Certified Flight Instructor) and a minimum of 10 hours of solo flight time. | |
| Pass a practical flight examination with a Designated Examiner |
